How to Clean, and Maintain Your Coach Handbags – Protect Your Investment

Coach produces its purses and shoes in various materials. It also gives us products to take care of our handbags and shoes. A little care of your stuff can increase its beauty and life many times. As products are made up of different materials its cleaning procedures and products changes accordingly. You have several options for keeping your designer purse looking great through the wear of normal life. The Coach Company sells cleaning products specific to each style of purse. These cleaners can be purchased at Coach stores for $10 or from the Coach website.  In addition, the Coach website gives you suggestions on how to keep each style of purse looking great. Some stores, such as Nordstrom’s, also offer purse cleaning as a follow up service to the customer.

To clean your purse at home: Begin by spraying all fabric purses with Scotch guard or stain-resistant spray before you use them to keep them clean longer. You can do that to the fabric part of your purse, just cover up and avoid spraying the leather trim!

Some dry cleaners will clean purses, however be sure to ask for a person to clean the purse and not a machine. If you would like to clean the purse yourself, use a gentle detergent, such as Dove, diluted in warm water with a light colored cloth. As always, you should also test a spot before doing the entire bag.

To clean dull brass, use metallic brightening polish, such as “Never Dull". It is a great metal polish. You can buy it in the automotive department at various chain stores. It comes in a small silver and black can. To get gum off your purse, first, grab some ice cubes and toss them in a plastic bag.  Seal the bag. Rub the gum spot until it becomes hard. Once the gum is hard you should be able to pull it off. If you have some 'leftover' gum residue on the handbag, put a hairdryer on the lowest setting and run it over the spot. Finally, rub the gum off with a cloth.


Coach Signature, Mini Signature, and Patent Collections: This collection is made up of signature jacquard fabric. Wiping the material with a smooth damp cloth is required. Coach leather care products should not be used on this collection.

Coach Vachetta Collection:  This collection is made up of vegetable-tanned French Vachetta leather. Because of its high quality, less care and upkeep is needed.

Coach Hamptons Weekend Collection: This collection is made up of fabric. Coach leather care products should not be used on these products. It can be easily cleaned with water.

Coach Madison and Lurex Optic C Collections: These products are made up of fur and satin, which have delicacy in them.  Leather care products should not be used.

Quilted Signature Collection: This collection is crafted in fabric that has been specially treated to be water and stain repellent. Coach leather care products cannot be used.

Coach Weekend Denim Collection: This collection uses denim as raw material. Leather care products should not be used on them and should be cleaned using damp and soft cloth.

Coach Soho Leather and Suede Collections: These collections can easily be cleaned with the help of these leather care products as these products are specially designed for the leather and suede.

Coach Straw Collection: The Straw collection is made up of hand-woven straw and trimmed with Bridle and Patent leather. It is delicate and can be easily cleaned with the help of damp cloth.

Coach Signature Patchwork Collection: Here, handbags and shoes are made by mixing fabric and leather for a beautiful design. Leather care products cannot be used.
