PENELOPE
For the spring of 2009, Coach is launching a new collection called Penelope. This line will contain the new Penelope Leather Shopper, the Penelope Signature Shantung Large Shopper, the Penelope Op Art Shopper, the New Penelope Satchels and a few Penelope Hobo models. This new line comes in a wide range of models, colors and sizes to meet the needs of any woman. These bags are convenient and elegant at the same time. The Penelope Leather Shopper comes with an inside zip pocket, center divider pocket, cell phone pocket, interior magnetic snaps and pebbled leather with patent leather trim for $350.
The Penelope Op Art bag comes in a variety of shades of sand with the signature C. The width of the bag is wider than most bags, at 19 inches, making it quite roomy and wide for a satchel. Some features of this bag include fabric with light weight leather trim and a medium interior pocket, along with a beaded clasp and multifunction slip pockets. The most popular color for this bag is coach satchel #13441 and experts suggest buying early if you are interested in this model.
POPPY
For the fall of 2009, Coach is branching out into a secondary line, called Poppy. This new budget friendly collection, (prices range from $198-$598) is made up of handbags and accessories, such as footwear, jewelry, eyewear and select apparel items. It is aimed to attract new customers who cannot afford the usually priced Coach items. According to Coach, the Poppy line will be a “collection of vibrant pieces that mix preppy East Coast vibes with punky sensibilities.” The goal is to attract younger customers to the Coach line, with Poppy’s broader price range, new silhouettes, and vibrant colors.
The featured centerpiece bag is the “Spotlight Shoulder Bag” which has a slouchy shape and convertible strap detailing as well as shoelace cinched sides. The “Rhinestone Spotlight and XL Sequin Spotlight” are two other retro style bags highlighted in the collection. The trademarked details of vintage shapes, pleating, and quirky hardware can be seen in “The Bonnie Tote.”
RESORT
Ranging in price from $450-$2,200, the Resort line of Coach purses focuses on soft leathers, shades of pink, and illuminating metallics. The silhouettes are simple, rounded and unstructured. Celebrities such as Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Mandy Moore, and Eva Longoria have been seen carrying these bags.
